In 2017, 15 at-risk youths from the YMCA Project Bridge Youth Centre got a taste of the fast lane. They had the opportunity to watch the 2017 Singapore Grand Prix live and experience the sheer thrill of fast cars and live music. The Formula 1 Racing experience was a unique one for them and it was a night that all 15 of them would never forget.

Following the 2017 Singapore Grand Prix, the 15 youths were treated to a buffet dinner and magic show at the Singapore Club Suite. As they savoured on sumptuous food and enjoyed astonishing magic tricks, the youths had a one-of-a-kind experience that would remain etched in their minds for a long time.

All these were thanks to Mariyam Dawood and her husband Bashir Dawood. The couple partnered with the YMCA Project Bridge Youth Centre which reaches out to youths-at-risk and youths who are out of school. The centre provides programmes and activities to help youths regain their confidence, discover their truest potentials, and find their place in society again.

Bashir Dawood and Mariyam Dawood have always donated generously to humanitarian efforts across the globe. For the 15 youths at the YMCA Project Bridge, Bashir Dawood and Mariyam Dawood sought to give them a one-of-a-kind experience at the Singapore Grand Prix. They believed that the Formula 1 Races represented the power of knowledge used for utilitarian purposes – it showcased what creativity, innovation and strong-willed determination could do.

A New Hope for the Youth

In treating the youth to a night at the Singapore Grand Prix, Bashir Dawood and Mariyam Dawood hoped to inspire them to reach further for their goals and dream bigger.

For Bashir Dawood and Mariyam Dawood, they believe that the youth are the future of our world. In motivating the youth to overcome their limitations, the couple strives to create a more innovative, determined and optimistic society of youths.

The Dawoods remain committed to serving the youth and society to the best of their abilities. They believe that the youth are powerful – and one day, they can change the world.
